The three kings is the designation of the Magi identified in the Gospel of Matthew. They were the first Gentiles to believe in Jesus. By the time of Origen, they were beginning to be regarded as saints. Neither their number nor their names are recorded in the Bible. Their number was determined by the three gifts that are listed in the Bible.
