Second Chance School
The goal of Second Chance School is not to satisfy a need for labor or studies, but to provide each individual student with the opportunity to develop his/her own potential and talent, because Second Chance School concepts stress an informal learning focus on promotion of self-confidence and social or professional competence.
Project ESF – Second Chance School
The project is to be understood as a social program, not as an educational project. It is about gaining practical skills for better job prospects and not training. Second Chance School Program has been supported by the EU since 1997 and in December 2011 the European Parliament approved a resolution that calls on member states to increase the use of second-chance schools to promote the practical experiences of young people without qualifications to be employable.
Project Second Chance School financed by the European Social Fund through the Operational Program Human Resources and Employment and the Czech Republic state budget (R.No. CZ.1.04/5.1.01/77.00165). The project was implemented by the Project Promoter Educa International ops and its Czech and International Partners – Central Bohemian Region (Středočeský kraj), Swedish regional authority Naringslivskontoret, and two Swedish education a training organizations Hagagymnasiet and Komvux. The pilot project tested 50 young people and proved the need of SCS in the Czech Republic as well as relieved many problems that needed to be addressed.
The main aim of the project was to prove the possibility of having a Second Chance School in the Czech Republic. In general the Second Chance School program, is aimed at young unemployed individuals between the age of 16-26 years who are partially or totally without access to training schemes or employment, because they became school dropouts.
